GMA Network's critically-acclaimed and ratings blockbuster TV drama "My Husband's Lover" was nominated for an International Emmy Award under the Telenovela category, the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences said in a post on its website.

"My Husband's Lover" was aired from June to October of 2013 and starred Carla Abellana, Tom Rodriguez and Dennis Trillo in the lead roles.

Said to be the first gay-themed drama series on Philippine television, the telenovela told the story of a married man who secretly led a homosexual life.

The three other nominees in the Telenovela category were:

- 30 Lives: Maxim Bouchard from Canada,
- Belmonte from Portugal, and
- Precious Pearl from Brazil.

The International Emmy Awards are given by the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences to recognize excellence in television produced outside of the United States. This year's awards will be presented to the winners on November 24 at the New York Hilton Hotel.

"Every November the Academy produces The International Emmy World Television Festival and the International Emmy Awards Gala in New York City. The Festival screens the current year's International Emmy-nominated programs and features the world-class producers and directors who speak about their work," the academy said on its website.

Expected at the November 24 gala night are over a thousand media luminaries from around the world
