"Eat Bulaga" mainstay Joey de Leon recently reacted to "It's Showtime" host Vice Ganda joking about the recent influx of GMA artists transferring to the Kapamilya network. In his August 21 tweet, Joey said, "We do not care where we belong. What we really are TO BE LONG! Or TO BE THE LONGEST! "
Joey was alluding to the fact that Eat Bulaga is the longest-running variety show in the Philippines. Joey made the comment amidst stiff competition between the two biggest networks in the country. He ended his comment by tagging the official Twitter accounts of Michael V and "Eat Bulaga."
Joey followed it up by tweeting: "We have not had a lifetime when it's LIFE BEGINS AND 40!"
Joey de Leon also took to Instagram to say: "We're just getting married because we LIFE BEGINS AND 40!"
Vice Ganda is one of the most prominent hosts of “It’s Showtime” – ABS-CBN’s noontime show that is “Eat Bulaga’s” closest competitor. Back in 2015, Vice clarified that the two shows are not rivals, but only provide “alternative entertainment.” Vice Ganda admitted that “It’s Showtime” can’t beat “Eat Bulaga’s” longevity.
