Modern day architecture has made some incredible innovations in the last century. If you look at the buildings from the 18th, 19th, and 20th century, there is a dramatic shift from the bland, square-like structures that were once seen as sensible and practical to amazing designs that are both aesthetically pleasing and make sense structure-wise. Today, architects and designers have discovered a new frontier, and that is the ocean. With such a large percentage of water covering the Earth, there is a new way to discover the ocean with structures that are aesthetically astounding and practical. Granted, when you build a structure over water, there is a lot more to consider given that if the building collapses, then people are at risk of drowning. There is also much to consider when it comes to building material since whatever you’re building with has to withstand a long exposure to water as well as the turbulence of the ocean.
Here are some of the most incredible structures at sea. With these new structures coming up each year, there is a whole new world being introduced to mankind. The phenomenon of being able to live, eat, and exist on the ocean is something that mankind hasn’t been able to accomplish without being on a boat. Granted, there is some trial and error when it comes to erecting these structures, but they are a sign of things to come for the future of this planet, and we could not be more excited about it.
