A magnitude 5.3 earthquake struck northwest Luzon on Monday afternoon, February 17.
The quake, which struck at 1:56 pm, was centered 29 kilometers southwest of Burgos, Ilocos Norte, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology & Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The depth of the quake's focus was 25 km, and was of tectonic origin, the institute said.
The US Geological Survey, meanwhile, placed the quake at magnitude 5.8.
Intensity V was felt in Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte, while Intensity IV was felt in Sarrat, Paoay, and Laoag.
Intensity III was felt in Sinait, Ilocos Sur; Claveria, Cagayan; and Bangui, Ilocos Norte, while Intensity II was felt in Santa, Ilocos Sur, and in the towns of Callao, Peñablanca, and Calayan in Cagayan.
Baguio felt the quake at Intensity I.
People in the affected areas can expect aftershocks. No damage is expected.
