“There's a question mark over their heads.”
This was the reason why, according to Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago, the electorate should refrain from voting for politicians implicated in the pork barrel scam.
Santiago, who was speaking at the Lyceum of the Philippines University in Batangas City, also said that the Ombudsman having filed cases against these politicians was enough basis for the allegations, even though these were yet to be proven in court.
“Kaya pag dinemanda sila sa Ombudsman tandaan niyo yan. Yang mga dinemanda na yan huwag na iboto,” Santiago said in a report on GMA 7's “24-Oras”.
She also reiterated her belief that bigger fish were involved in the P10 billion Priority Development Assistance Fund scam.
“Inuulit ko sa inyo, ang mastermind niyan hindi si Janet Napoles kung 'di leader doon mismo sa loob ng Senado,” Santiago said.
Napoles is currently under police custody and is reportedly the mastermind of the scam. Senators Jinggoy Estrada, Bong Revilla and Juan Ponce Enrile are the politicians implicated in the PDAF scam.
Enrile and Santiago had feuded last year, with Enrile questioning Santiago's sanity and some of her law school grades, and Santiago pointing to Enrile's alleged lack of integrity and womanizing.
Estrada and Enrile would not comment on Santiago's speech, while Revilla asked the lady senator not to judge them before the court has decided on the case.
