The Philippines received 10 recognitions in the U.S. International Film & Video Festival: eight of them went to GMA-7 while two went to ABS-CBN.

The Kapuso Network bagged two prestigious Gold Camera Awards this year. They were given to Brigada: "Gintong Krudo" ("Black Gold") for the Television Documentary: Social Issues category and to Wagas: Mga Kuwento ng Totoong Pag-ibig for the Television: Docudrama category.

In "Gintong Krudo," the documentary shows how impoverished children swim through the filthy waters of the Navotas Fish Port to collect and sell spilled oil.

Wagas was honored for "Walang Imposible: Mary Grace and Ron Sapinoso Love Story," wherein Sid Lucero portrayed Ron Sapinoso, a man with cerebral palsy who wooed his crush Mary Grace (played by Gwen Zamora).

Three GMA News TV programs were given Silver Screen Awards: Reel-Time: "Dungkoy" in Television: Documentary Biography; Reel Time: "Silang Wala sa Mapa" ("Off the Grid") in Television: Documentary Health, Medical; and State of the Nation with Jessica Soho (Super Typhoon Yolanda Coverage) in Television Continuing News Stories.

Reel-Time introduces Dungkoy, a 10-year-old boy who takes care of his paralyzed grandmother while "Silang Wala sa Mapa" showcases the B’laan tribe in the remote portion of Sarangani.

The Kapuso Network also bagged Silver Screen Awards for Front Row (“Ulilang Lubos”) in Television: Social Issues Documentary and for Reporter's Notebook ("Bakas ng Trahedya" / "Scars of Tragedy") in Television: Current Affairs Documentary.

"Ulilang Lubos" depicts the life of a 10-year-old girl who serves as the breadwinner of her family while "Bakas ng Trahedya" focuses on Yolanda survivors in Eastern Samar and Tacloban, Leyte.
