Flappy Bird is back with multiplayer mode

Remember "Flappy Bird," the 8-bit-style game that became a surprise viral hit? It's back, but promises to be much less addictive this time.

At least for now, the game is available only for Amazon Fire TV, though owners of the new version can enjoy a new multiplayer mode, gadget site T3.com reported.

The original version earlier this year topped the iOS and Android app charts, but developer Dong Nguyen took it down after citing its addictiveness.

Dubbed "Flappy Birds Family," the multiplayer mode can be played with the "Amazon Fire TV box, remote and controller," the site said.

"It also features a versus mode, allowing you to battle it out with your mates along with new obstacles (floating ghosts) which must be avoided to advance the levels," it added.

On the other hand, T3 said there is no clear announcement whether this new "Flappy Bird" will make its way to smartphones and tablets.
