Adamson University in Manila has announced that its academic schedule will remain the same, despite an earlier statement it would shift the start of the school year to August.
In a Facebook post Friday, the Adamson Chronicle released a photograph of the school's 2014-2015 calendar showing classes will begin in June.
The university has yet to issue a statement on the academic calendar.
Other universities have decided to shift their calendars to align their schedules with partner universities abroad.
The Ateneo de Manila University and the University of the Philippines System, excepting the Diliman campus, have decided to adopt the August-May academic calendar ahead of other universities.
Though consultations are still ongoing, the UP system has already released a memo on its website announcing the shift.
Some professors from the UP system have expressed concerns over the move. They said adjusting the schedule will not necessarily make Philippine universities more competitive.
Professor Emmanuel de Dios of the UP School of Economics has said the shift will not benefit students substantially, and might even make their academic and personal lives more difficult.
“This proposed change is not a result of intelligent research kasi ang dami pang kailangang gawin na mas makakatulong for the benefit of UP,” de Dios, who specializes in International Economics and Economic Theory, said earlier this month.
